Business World (Elementary-Advanced) Program

 

Business World is a five (5) level series of Business English courses designed for Adult English Language Learners to develop the accuracy, fluency, and communication skills required to engage confidently and effectively in the English-speaking business world.  It is a dynamic program where students are immersed in a world of authentic Business English as employed in the English-speaking business world.

Academic Preparation

Students follow an intensive core curriculum of integrated skills in academic English. They participate in special sessions to advance their abilities in note-taking, seminar discussions, academic testing, and presentation skills.

Our school is open Monday – Thursday: 8:00 am – 9:45 pm; Friday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm; and Saturday: 9:00 am – 5:30 pm.

Academic Preparation

  • Dutch explorer Peter Minuit purchased the island of Manhattan from the Algonquin tribe for trinkets and tools worth about $24.
  • New York City was the U.S. capital from 1789 to 1790.
  • Manhattan means island of the hills in the language of the Algonquin Indians.
  • The Statue of Liberty is 101 feet tall from base to torch and 305 feet tall from pedestal foundation to torch. She has a 35-foot waist and an 8-foot index finger, and she weighs 450,000 pounds.
  • Times Square is named after the New York Times Building.
  • Central Park is 843 acres and completely man-made.
  • There are almost 19,000 restaurants in Manhattan and you can eat at a different one every day for 52 years.
  • The term The Big Apple was created by touring jazz musicians of the 1930s who used “apple” as slang for any town or city. So, to play in New York City was to play the biggest of cities — The Big Apple.
  • The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) contains over 2 million works, making it one of the largest art museums in the world.
  • The New York subway system is the largest mass transit system in the world with 468 stations and 842 miles (1355 km) of track.
